SRNA Discipline Committee Pool The Committees function includes:
- A determination of whether or not a nurse is guilty of allegations of professional incompetence or professional misconduct, and if the
nurse is found guilty, a decision as to what disciplinary or other action should be taken, as outlined in The Registered Nurses Act, 1988
- Written report to Council
Committee appointments are for a 5 year term and are renewable once. The committee does not meet on a regular basis rather it is struck on an ad hoc basis for a named hearing.
SRNA Education Approval Committee The Committees function is to:
- Report to the Executive Director recommending an approval rating of a basic or registered-nurse practitioner nursing education program
based on Council approved standards and/or criteria governing the approval of nursing education programs
- Annual report to the Executive Director regarding updates from nursing education programs
- Proposed revisions to standards/criteria governing the approval of nursing education programs for Council Approval
Committee appointments are for a 3 year term and are renewable once.
SRNA Legislation & Bylaws Committee The Committees function is to review:
- Options for Council consideration regarding potential changes to legislation affecting nursing
- Options for Council consideration regarding potential changes to The Registered Nurses Act, 1988
- Upon direction from Council, to draft revisions for The Registered Nurses Act, 1988
Committee appointments are for three years and are renewable once.
SRNA Membership Advisory Committee The Committees function is to:
- Recommend strategies to enhance communication and participation in Association activities by members and students
- Provide recommendations for member appointment to internal and external committees
- Provide advice on member and public recognition in accordance with Council Policy
- Provide advice on member leadership and professional presence in accordance with Council ENDs
Committee appointments are for 3 years and are renewable once.
SRNA Registration and Membership Committee The Committees function is to:
- Make recommendations to the Registrar with respect to administrative policy and individual cases regarding the requirements for
registration/licensure and membership in accordance with The Registered Nurses Act, 1988 including but not limited to: assessment of equivalence of nursing education programs; management of examination policy issues; determination of good character and good standing; recognition of approved RN and RN(NP) practice; granting of extensions of registration eligibility; auditing of delegated functions; establishing cost-recovery initial application fees; maintenance and application of endorsement agreements and authorizations to waive requirements, as per the Act & Bylaws
- Insure the appeals of Registrar are presented to Council
- Accommodate examination of candidates with disabilities in accordance with Assessment Strategies Inc criteria
Committee appointments are for a 3 year term and are renewable once.
SRNA RN (NP) Advisory Committee The Committees function is to be an:
- Advisory for comprehensive administrative policy framework for the registration and licensure of RN(NP)s
- Advise on SRNA documents: Scope of Practice of the Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) and RN(NP) Decision-making and
Delegation
- Question and Answer Issue Management for the RN(NP)
Committee appointments are for a 3 year term and are renewable once.
SRNA Nominations Committee The Committees function is to obtain:
- A slate of informed candidates to fill the Registered Nurse Positions on Council
- A slate of informed nominees to fill the Public Representative positions on Council
- A slate of informed candidates to fill positions on the Nominations Committee
Public Representatives are appointed for a two year term.
SRNA Investigations Committee
The Committee function includes:
- To deal with allegations of professional incompetence and / or professional misconduct concerning the nursing practice of any of its members, as provided for in Section 28(1) of The Registered Nurses Act, 1988, Bylaw IX: Section 3, and the Code of Ethics.
- Makes decisions regarding resolution / outcomes of the written reports received that are investigated by the committee.
General Information for SRNA Committees
- Honoraria and expense coverage to attend meetings are provided as per SRNA Policy
- Time commitments for meetings varies with an average of one to four meetings per year
- Meetings may be held in person in Regina or other locations
- Some committees meet via teleconference
