2007 Annual Meeting Resolutions

At the SRNA Annual Meeting held in Prince Albert, May 2, 2007 six resolutions were presented to Council and the membership for discussion. Of those six, five were passed by the membership.

1. BE IT RESOLVED that the annual practicing membership fee for 2008 be increased from the 2007 level of $430.00 (plus GST) to $460 (plus GST), that the annual practicing membership fee for 2009 be increased from the 2008 level of $460.00 (plus GST) to $490 (plus GST), and that the annual practicing membership fee for 2010 be increased from the 2009 level of $490.00 (plus GST) to $510 (plus GST).

2. BE IT RESOLVED that the SRNA provide leadership in supporting environmentally responsible activities within the health sector.

3. WHEREAS our government is considering implications of signing on to the Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) and; WHEREAS this agreement poses significant threat to standards, regulations and many other aspects of democracy, therefore;

BE IT RESOLVED that SRNA research and present the impacts to our self-regulation to the Standing Committee on the Economy.

4. WHEREAS there is emerging jurisprudence regarding the rights of disabled workers; and WHEREAS SRNA has not changed their practices and procedures with respect to maintenance of registration as it relates to persons with a disability for some time, therefore;

BE IT RESOLVED that SRNA work with the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses to investigate options for addressing the maintenance of licensure for RNs with a disability.

5. BE IT RESOLVED that the SRNA advocate on behalf of the low income elderly with dementia, to lobby for the provision of health services and resources proportionate to their needs.
