SRNA Recognizes Nursing Excellence
SRNA Annual Meeting, Prince Albert (May 2, 2007) - The Saskatchewan Registered Nurses' Association (SRNA) pays tribute to the outstanding achievements of former and practising registered nurse members and nursing students at the Association's annual awards ceremony this evening. Five SRNA Millennium Awards, four Life Memberships, one Honorary Membership, and four Mentorship Awards will be presented. "The SRNA is proud to showcase the exceptional contribution these recipients have made to health care, the nursing profession and the public we serve" said Colleen Toye, RN, President of the SRNA. "Their accomplishments have had a significant impact in the lives of individuals, families and communities."
"We are particularly pleased to honour these individuals in SRNA's 90th anniversary year. These outstanding citizens embody compassion, caring, skill, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge to ensure the best patient care and safety," said Toye. "They are leaders in our diversifying and evolving health care system." The Millennium Awards were established in 2000 by the SRNA to recognize nurses and members of the public who have made an outstanding impact in nursing practice and/or in the health environment. The purpose of these awards is to recognize individuals or groups who have made a difference.

Helen Walker Award for Innovation in Nursing
Effie Feeny Award for Nursing Research
Elizabeth Van Valkenburg Award for Leadership in Nursing Education
The awards will be presented at the SRNA Annual Awards banquet this evening at the Marlboro Hotel in Prince Albert.
The SRNA is the professional regulatory body for registered nurses in the province. Founded in 1917, the SRNA represents the largest group of health professionals in the province with almost 9,000 practising members. The SRNA speaks out on health care issues on behalf of registered nurses and the public.
