Two dynamic speakers will help us develop the context of a new dynamic brand for nursing -
Michael Villeneuve, RN - "Toward 20/20: New Directions for Canadian Nursing and author and futurist
Robert J. Sawyer - "A Futurist's Look at Healthcare and Nursing". Michael Villeneuve, RN, BScN, and
MSC, is the Scholar in Residence at the Canadian Nurses' Association in Ottawa. He is author of the
Association's recent study "Toward 20/20" a ground breaking work that laid out scenarios and visions
for a different kind of nursing that will be needed to meet the health demands and social realities
of the world in 2020. A journey into the future wouldn't be complete without a "Dean of Science Fiction,"
award-winning author and futurist, Robert J. Sawyer. Robert is the resident on-air futurist for Discovery
Channel Canada, science commentator for Newsworld, and a syndicated science columnist for CBC Radio.

The main event involves futuristic health care interpretations by Grade 5 students - the
graduating class of 2020, and specially designed skits by a University of Regina drama group. This
will set the stage for interactive facilitated think tanks.

Taking us forward in time to reveal an innovative snapshot of the futuristic face of healthcare
and nursing. The SRNA is the professional regulatory body for nurses in Saskatchewan. Founded in 1917,
the SRNA represents the largest group of health professionals in the province with over 9,000 members.
