The Story Behind The Statue

World War I Nursing Sister Gladys Elizabeth (Matheson) Crim

The following photos are taken from a photo album regarding Gladys and her family members.

Gladys was demobilized in July, 1920, and went to Vancouver to nurse for some months there. In 1926, she married a U.S. Infantry officer in Hawaii, Sterling Crim, and remained with him in San Antonio Texas until she moved back to Canada in the 1980's upon his death. There are many memories of the Matheson family that have been kept alive and Gladys' memory will never be forgotten and her story will always continue to inspire.
