Three resolutions were brought forward at the SRNA annual meeting May 7th, in Regina for discussion by council and membership. All were passed by the membership.

BE IT RESOLVED that the SRNA implement a graduate nurse practitioner license when a SRNA approved educational program has been completed.

BE IT RESOLVED that the SRNA strongly encourage the Government of Saskatchewan to develop and implement a provincial strategy on obesity prevention, a strategy:

  1. which is sensitive to age, gender and culture;
  2. which features a two-pronged approach – promotion of physical activity and promotion of healthy eating;
  3. in which public, private and civic sectors participate in development and implementation;
  4. intended to prevent and treat obesity in order primarily to prevent and/or slow down the development of chronic diseases associated with obesity.

BE IT RESOLVED that by the fall of 2009 the SRNA investigate or advocate that the annual registration form provide a section for perianesthesia nurses to indicate their specific work area specialty and that the OR/RR designations be renamed perioperative and perianesthesia on their own lines
