Gladys spent three years on the Mission after returning home from Prince Albert. She taught in the Onion Lake School, assisted her mother in the hospital and with the care of her siblings, and worked around the yard with whatever needed to be done. Gladys was known for being "quick and capable" and "ready to turn her hand at any work."
