Driven by values that focus on the protection of the people of Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA) is the professional, self-regulatory body for the province’s 10,500 registered nurses and nurse practitioners. For over 90 years, the SRNA has set high standards for nursing education, practice and registration. To contribute to this tradition and advance quality, competent nursing care in Saskatchewan, the Association is seeking a new full-time permanent:
Nursing Advisor, Policy
The Nursing Advisor, Policy will provide research, writing, and editorial leadership for SRNA documents; integrate SRNA communication, policy and nursing activities with membership initiatives; lead, develop, coordinate, evaluate and review plans, policies, legislation, polls, indicators, and implementation strategies related to nursing practice; and engage in qualitative and quantitative research as needed. As needed, the Nursing Advisor, Policy will provide confidential advice, information and resources to individual and groups of registered nurses regarding professional practice issues. The Nursing Advisor, Policy will represent SRNA on local, provincial, national and international committees of key stakeholders.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current eligibility for registration with the SRNA
- Masters degree in a related field
- 7 - 10 years of current nursing experience in policy, government, research, or education
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer software applications
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in both verbal and written context
- Organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage programs and projects
- Broad knowledge of policy process in a variety of settings including regulatory bodies and government
- High level of capability in areas of analysis, research and problem solving
- Willing and able to adapt to the changing needs of a member-driven organization
- Respectful of confidentiality and of the other requirements inherent within the role of representing the SRNA
