Nursing Practice Updates

The SRNA provides up-to-date news on anything that may have an impact on nursing practice in Saskatchewan. This includes legislation, updates to SRNA bylaws and the introduction of new standards and guidelines.

On March 17, 2021 new Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) legislation came into effect. These updates include changes to the eligibility criteria, the safeguards and consent, as well as data collection and monitoring. The Nursing Practice Update on the revised legislation provides a more in-depth explanation, and resources related to changes to the MAID law can be found on the Government of Canada website. The SRNA MAID resources are being updated and will be shared once completed.

In addition, changes to The Disease Control Regulations has enabled has enabled a large number of partners involved in the Covid-19 Immunization Delivery Plan and its use of both licensed and unlicensed health care providers to meet the human resource demands, there may be some exceptions to current medication management expectations for RNs in relation to the Covid-19 vaccines only.
