What is Recognition of Practice
The Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) recognizes that Registered Nurses (RN) are engaged in a multitude of roles and activities that may be non-traditional, innovative or complex. As such, it is impossible to create a list of all the roles and activities that fall within the definition of the practice of registered nursing. The SRNA has a process in place to determine if an RN’s practice falls within the definition of nursing practice contained in The Registered Nurses Act, 1988.
Members who are requesting recognition of nursing practice for approval are reviewed on an individual basis to determine if the roles and activities that the RN is engaged in fits the definition of nursing practice, allows the member to use the title RN and count their employment hours toward registration.
